Increase Sales By Flying Under
Your Prospects' "Radar Defenses"

=====================================

How do you persuade someone to do what you want them to do?

A whole world of marketing exists around us trying to do that every minute of the day. Do you even notice it anymore or, like your prospects, have you subconsciously set up a system of "radar defenses" against the daily bombardment of marketing messages?

Take a minute and count up the advertising methods which fight for your attention (and money) every day. Just the basic list includes:

· Yellow page ads

· Newspaper and magazine ads

· Postcards, catalogs, and direct mail circulars in your
"snail mail" box

· Radio pitches interrupting the flow of your favorite songs

· TV ads - about 20 minutes worth per hour now

· Hundreds of storefronts, "mega" malls, and strip malls

· Highway billboards by the thousands

· Circulars hung on your doorknob

· Illegal signs on stop signs and telephone poles

· Legitimate email messages

· Spam email or UCE (without permission commercial email)

Just these 11 sources can overwhelm your brain with marketing messages. Like trapped rats, people develop defenses against this never-ending onslaught. They throw up a wall or a "radar defense" that goes into action the minute they smell a "pitch" or a sales job. Don't blame them. We all do it!

So how can you get around this psychological wall against the constant sales and marketing messages? Well, the answer does NOT lie in hitting people with more frequent and obnoxious advertising or sly, sneaky tactics. You might get them to trust you for a minute, but it will backfire in the long run.

You must do two things instead:

1. First, you must establish credibility for yourself and
your business as an expert.

2. Second, you must reduce their fears about doing business
with you.

Doing these two things will get you past their defenses and allow you the opportunity to persuade them to buy your product.

So how do you accomplish these two "simple" things? What will win someone's attention, raise your credibility, and lower their fear factor all at the same time? The one-word answer really applies to most everyone.

Trust!

If a seller can get behind your defenses with information which makes you trust them, then that credibility will carry over into a sale much of the time.

How can you get this credibility?

Well, take this next fact as online marketing "gospel," for many people have proven its effectiveness.

Fact: Publishing and promoting with free articles gives you one of the most powerful opportunities available to tip the buyer's credibility scale in your favor.

How can we prove this works? Quite easily actually. Take a break from reading this and go check out a newspaper or magazine for a minute.

Which do you trust more, the ads or the articles? Most people will choose the articles hands down. Why? Because the articles don't try to "sell" you anything. Instead, they hand out useful information for educational or other practical purposes.

Most of us grew up in a culture which says we can believe and "trust" what appears in the standard "news" or "information" format. In other words, if it appears in print, then we can believe and trust the author.

So go ahead! Use this lifetime of conditioning to your advantage in selling your products and services!

Very few things will create an atmosphere of trust and confidence in people as reading one of your articles on a subject that greatly interests them. It shows you know your business. It also demonstrates you will do more than just try to sell them something.

Publishing articles literally lets you fly under their advertising "radar defenses."

So remember these points when deciding whether or not to use articles to promote your business:

1. Few things create as much trust and confidence in the minds of potential customers as reading an article you wrote on a subject which specifically and intensely interests them.

2. Articles establish credibility quickly because, right or wrong, we've all been trained to trust the "news."

3. An article, or series of articles, will differentiate you from the competition, who bombard people with nothing but sales messages.

4. Providing content-rich, non-sales-oriented articles will also help build and solidify your relationship with existing customers so they give you repeat business.

Taking the Plunge into affiliate Marketing

Hi everyone, about 7 months ago after I bought some email advertising for an affiliate program the follow up team from the advertising agency hooked me with their sales copy call. They said they were looking to take a select few under their wing to show the ropes to start making $5,000 - $8,000 a month. Now because of the reputable name behind the company, (Mike Gilaspie) or Mike G as hes known, I ended up spending $3,000 for personal coaching which they drill into you that you're going to make it. I was at a vulnerable spot, into affiliate marketing for 4-5 months, taking in info, just starting to build my own website, and had just enough from an injury to take classes or do something to try to get ahead. They caught me at a good time cause I thought it was meant and i hadn't heard all the riff raff on coaching programs. The way they pitch it to you, I was well assured I'd be in damn good shape at 5-8 grand a month. Thats the intermediate level AM's dream come true.

With or without a website is a termused in the pitch and I had a very poorly contented one at the time I thought it was great and hey, I was one step ahead. I really couldn't believe the coaching lessons was such common stuff like get a blog, submit to the search engines, use Adwords, and begin linking. I don't want to go into how I feel about it cause it really is being duped for way to much. They offer a guarantee of "if you don't recoop initial investment (they like to call it) within first 6 months, then we'll work with you for up to a year. Its been 6 months so I'm going to get that out of them. And also part of the scheme is " all we want from you in return is a testimonial of the success you've raked in. They really make it sound like a right away deal.

Affiliate marketing does hold extreme potential and if you continue to work at it its indeed profitable. I just think for the amount they run someone for especially if they "have" a website and they're an advertising agency to begin with they should include some advertising in the deal.
All I can say is that if you're looking into being coached, i'm sure there are worthwhile teachings to be had but really do some Due Diligence and figure the secret Guru knowledge is just basic common practice and knowledge, don't let yourself be fooled.

I have learned a lot more since then and have built a better quality website full of unique relevant content, utilized some SEO techniques, and network constantly until the traffic is on auto-pilot. This is where it finally gets fun and results of my efforts are growing. Just sticking at it as in anything in life eventually you'll prosper at it.

Make the decision you need your own website

Copyright © Austen Michael Harris

Now getting up to speed in 2008, could this be your year? Your year in making a change. A decision to succeed? Have you already begun? Are you ticking off the boxes of your accomplishments and promises to keep? What are the brick walls you're facing in a path to further success? I very much think there is more than enough training, information and great opportunities available and hope that I've provided at least a fair share that has proved worthy and useful to your online efforts at success. There is always more to take in frequently and take time to absorb as much as you can.

We know very well a lack of time is always a brick wall if you're beginning to intermediate marketer. Plus at this level, perhaps a lack of a website is still standing in your way. And there is an apparent fear when it comes to deciding "it is time for me to have an active website". Because of all that's involved, HTML knowledge, hosting, domain, design, graphics, gives most an uneasy feeling, and they set in on the back burner. But I have a quick easy solution to those problems that cuts the time barrier in half.

The website is a very important tool in the whole affiliate marketing concept and program alone. Site planning, from domain name to the design, the lay-out, the content, and ads. Some users are particular about what they see at first glance and thus when they find your site ugly, they won’t read through the content even if your site has many things to say and offer. On the other hand, there those who want information more than anything else. Affiliate marketers with “conten-rich” sites are usually the ones who prosper in this business because the content improves traffic to the site. Websites with high quality content—with relevant keywords and more importantly, right information about the product and not empty hyped-up advertisements—allow you to earn big in affiliate marketing even when you’re asleep. If you won’t be able to sustain the interest of your site visitor, you won’t be able to lead him to the merchants’ site. No click-through means no sale and thus, no income on your part.

Selecting a top level domain name is also crucial to the success of the affiliate program. Lots of affiliate sites don’t appear in the search engine results because they are deemed by affiliate managers as personal sites. Major search engines and directories would think of your site as transient ones and thus, they won’t list it in the directory. Before you decide on the domain name, know first what you are going to promote. Many fail because their sites are not appropriately named, so even when they feature the exact products the customer is looking for, the customer might think the site is not relevant and thus, won’t enter the site.

Quick & Usefull Networking, Web, & SEO Tools

As you may or may not know the famous and unmatched in performance, compatibility and utilities, the FireFox browser is soon to be unveiled to the new and upgraded 3.0 from what it is now 2.0 - This browser makes working and playing so much more fun and easy with all the add-ons and extensions it has. Plus it is super secured for dealing with your business needs. I had an ongoing problem with Internet Explore with it crashing left and right and found it couldn't handle a couple basic toolbar add-ons so I rarely use it anymore even though its the featured browser for Windows.
So on to the extensions I utilize and encourage you to use to make networking and your online life alot easier and helpful. I'll try to put small pictures with the links so you see where they live.

If you don't use FireFox you're missing out get it here or do me a favor if you found this post helpful and scroll down where I have an Adsense Ad Tab that reads FireFox with Google Toolbar. Thats your best bet and I'd thank you. I'm a part of the Spread FireFox Community. Firefox 2

Now the extensions with pics & live hotlinks that takes you to the download page

Cooliris Previews - Cooliris Previews gives you the power to browse and share Web links and rich media faster. Just mouse over any link, and the Cooliris preview window immediately appears to show you the content. To email it, just click. I like this so you can stay on the webpage without having to click the link to go to the page. Saves time.
